One Life

A poem I wrote. One to reflect on when you are feeling trapped or unfulfilled

One Life


In all the world
Man is unique
In knowing that death
Does him seek

This sense of self
Is a poisoned fate
For to the world
You can relate

You know not when
You know not where
But know this
When you die the world won’t care

The wind will blow
The rain will fall
Nature won’t weep
Or throw a ball

You were born and you will die
Of that you can be certain
The time between is yours to live
Your chance to be your greatest person

Your time
Is your most precious gift
For you to spend
As you see fit

It cannot be saved
Or passed on
And every day
More of it is gone

You will not complete
Everything you start
So live your life
With joy at heart

What others think
You cannot shape
So live your life
Don’t just escape

Love yourself
For you are great
And live your life
Before its too late
