17000 days

I am nearly 17000 days old. So what? Well I read somewhere this week that the web is now 5000 days old which sounded a long time but I can remember when it started (is that a definition of being old?).

As I was not a really early adopter I guess the web has only been in my own world for maybe 3500 days. Is there anything else that has changed day to day life for so many people, every business and society in general so profoundly and so quickly. Scary.

I can remember all the heated intellectual debates about what would and would not work, what would happen, the business models that would prevail etc. They would make fascinating reading now for some historian I bet. I don't remember them all of course but many "impossible" things then have become the norm now, most things that were never going to be free now are and many things that never used to exist are now the revenue sources. Incredible when you look back.

I wonder what the next 5000 days will bring.
